The Pride of the Clyde 24th October 2007

Postby Alex Glass » Wed Oct 24, 2007 9:53 am

The Pride of the Clyde will make it's last trip from the Broomielaw to Breahead today.

This will be your last chance to make this trip and maybe take some photos along the way.

I thought it was just ending the season but the operators seem to be giving the trips up. I also heard the vessel is being moved up to sail on Loch Katrine. Does this mean the sir Walter Scott is to be retired? Anyhow the sail on the Pride is well worth the trip so I would advise going while its there.

I've a notion there was something on tv recently about the Sir Walter Scott undergoing a few years restoration.

The SS Sir Walter Scot will be back in the water for the 2008 season, the boilers are being converted to run on biodiesel as the 'right ' sort of steam coal is getting difficult to find.

The last day of sailings for the Sir Walter Scott powered by coal is Sunday 28th October, then it will be off for the conversion over the winter. And the Pride of the Clyde, or whatever it is to be called, will take over for the winter months,

Then the two boats will then operate together.
