In a good way I mean!

Yes i think it can be. ::):

Standing near the old high court at the gates to the Glasgow green or the bridge you get a good view and your feet stay dry and you cant hear the crapy music but you can see and hear the display in relitive comfort.
When i have been at this bit there has been lots of motorbike police parked there too.
and you have a quick escape for a bus home.

 if your in the park it takes ages to get out.

As bcuk10 said, in front of the gates is probably the best place to view. Plus you
get the aesthetic advantage of the arch & trees in the foreground.

Aside from Queens Park, what other places are good, safe vantage points to watch the fireworks over Glasgow, but without going into the city centre?

The CAA has refused permission for the display at the Titan - the display will now be held at Dalmuir Park on 6/11 at 7:45pm

(Click for a few more shots from the Green)

That was one hell of a show. Could've done without the lesson on how not to do public speaking[1], but the pyrotechnics more than made up for it. That and the Ski Sunday theme tune.

C'mon. Cut a bit of slack here. Imagine how pissed off you'd feel if every other c*nt had pissed off to Sri Lanka and you got a cauld night on Glasgow Green.

We had a bit of a shocking 'alternative' Guy Fawkes show in the Burnside/Rutherglen/Cambuslang area last night when the local Trinty High School (secondary) went up in flames 8O

Me and the rest of the tribe were upstairs enjoying the pretty spectacular views we get across the East End when suddenly about 10 o'clock there were huge filthy flames exploding up and belching horrible dark smoke reached way up into the sky. It actually got quite scary as it seemed to just go on and on strengthening... and we're beginning to think just when will the fire engines start arriving? I believe we were looking at something that must have been similar to the night-time scene during WW2 bombing over Glasgow.

A double tragedy is that Trinity High is well into a major refurbishment so it's a big blow to the local education budget (local authority insurances don't ususally make up for the total loss). Looks like the kids will be stuck in their decant accomodation for a lot longer than intended.

I admit that I was one of the locals who decried the loss of the original magnificant Trinity High interiors, dating from the late 1960s design era when we put generous funding into the public realm (unlike the nasty cheap PFI legacy that the present Government has given us)... but I had absolutely nothing to do with this fire... honest!
