Because one was started three hours before and too many threads of the same thing causes duplication, confusion and boredom.

What a swell party it was

ALMOST 25,000 revellers braved the cold to bring in the bells at Glasgow's biggest Hogmanay party in George Square.
The city's own Hue and Cry rocked the stage along with popular indie band Athlete and ex-Blue boy Antony Costa in an explosive evening hosted by DJ George Bowie.
