What is with all this panic buying of toilet roll in parts of Scotland and England?
Am I missing something?

Dot it’s the panic brigade, what’s wrong with a hammer, a nail and a Daily Record, it’s what we used to do in the tenement buildings, if you were lucky and it was fish and chip paper it would give your sphincter a lovely wee glossy shine all the day long!

I'm still working my way through the big pack of twenty four bog rolls (Andrex Quilts if you must know) I bought at the start of lockdown.

See, I didn't panic buy. I knew that things would even out eventually.

And it was just me and my wee mum living here. Well, just me now, since she's been in a care home since the middle of June.

And if it's all we only pass this way but once, what a perfect waste of time.

If push comes to shove wooden spoon with a washing up sponge tied to the end, it’s what the Romans used to do, whatever did the Romans ever do for us....... everything it would appear!

Well my son who lives in Lancashire and has five people in the house was finding it quite difficult to get hold of loo paper when the whole lockdown thing started.

I told him I'd order him some on Amazon or Groupon to help him keep stocked up but in the end he was alright.
I know my local supermarket were trying to ration it but I suspect some of the store workers were maybe not always strict as others. If you are only allowed so many packets what does that even mean?
Can one person have a certain number of packets but does that mean a maximum number of rolls?

Also one of the chemists in the area told the story of a couple who tried to buy multiple quantities of hand sanitiser and wipes.
They thought if they went in a few times in the day nobody would remember them.
The shop had restrictions on these items and told them to take themselves off.

I did a quick inventory of all the bog roll I've got.

Allowing for an average of using one roll per week, and including the Emergency Stash tucked away at the bottom of the lobby press - I've got enough to last me until August of next year.

What is the deal with all these antiperspirants that say 48 hours or 72 hours?

I can't imagine that if you showered then apply some and waited that length with no more washing or further applications
you'd be smelling like a rose.

Maybe if you're eighty and didn't leave your house or move around much and it was autumn/winter.

I get that humans are social creatures, but the overly socal ones annoy the hell out of me.

I was in town a few days ago, at the clothing alterations/repair shop picking up a couple of items I'd dropped off earlier in the week.

It's a wee shop, and as such they've a sign in the window saying "One customer only at a time". Which is fair enough, I have no problem with that.

There was a wee wumman inside already so I stood outside to wait my turn.

A couple of minutes pass. She's talking to the shop owner.

A couple more minutes pass. She's still talking.

A couple more minutes pass. She's heading to the door. She almost has her hand on the door handle, then she turns back and starts talking again.

What the actual fuck?!?

We're in the midst of a global pandemic! We're supposed to minimise contact with other people, and yet you're standing in a shop gabbing away nineteen to the dozen?

If I get any more anti social, I'm liable to start biting people.

The Creeping Spleen,

I have stopped going to one shop in particular as one of the shop assistants spends so much time chatting.
It's not a big place so I probably won't be back.
I think people should be more considerate in these difficult times.

Yesterday at the supermarket I could feel the stress levels rising as man and woman in front were having trouble with their
credit/debt cards. Not sure if strips on back were damaged or perhaps they were maxed out on them.
They had only a small number of items and I was almost on the verge of offering to pay as there were people behind me trying
to stand socially distanced.
Eventually after trying three or four cards the payment was accepted.

I don't mind people passing the time of day with shopworkers - "Hello, how are you today." - and so on. Especially if you're a regular.

But not standing there yapping, oblivious to the queue of angry customers.
