I think Ricky Gervais is like 'Marmite' and you either like him or you don't but I think same could be said for David Walliams and Jimmy Carr.

I liked Matt Lucas better when 'Little Britain' was on.
David Walliams does seem to be successful with his children's books and perhaps this is where his talent lies.

Dot that’s a very fair point, it’s hard to read other people’s words, act and make people laugh!

Matt is visually funny, David Williams is a very similar character to Frankie Howerd, I would have said the books, the audiobooks and the sitcoms on his books are funny, kids I know laugh out loud and I have a sneaky swatch myself at them, he is no Rik Mayall but I think he’s funnier now he has gone solo!

One of my 4 sons is a stand up comedian, it is gut wrenching hard work behind and in front of camera!

Gone are the days of absolutely top notch comics like Groucho Marx, Bob Hope, Jack Benny, Phyllis Diller, Tony Hancock, Sid James, Sid Caesar and the last of them is probably Mel Brooks

I am obviously very old Dot, I hope you are well young Miss!

Henrysix,

Yes all good with me thanks and I like many of those comics you mention.
I have seen Dave Allen, Billy Connolly, Jasper Carrott and all many years ago now.

A good friend of mine got tickets for Ken Dodd.
Well it was certainly value for money as some people got up and left before show was actually over. ::):
I will say it was a long night. ::):

Back to adverts and I don't like the ones for women's leaky bladders and men's problems in bedroom dept.
I know some people do have problems with these complaints so I don't want to be unsympathetic.
I think most people will know where to go for help with these issues.

I love the Weetabix ad on Greatest Hits Radio.

Noah talking to the guy he's hired to build the ark, and how he's finished all the animal enclosures, including one for "...them funny bears with the black eyes."
Noah: "Pandas?"
Builder: "Yeah, that's them."
Noah: "Blimey! Someone's had their Weetabix!"
Builder: "Yeah, I 'ad three. Now, you might want to crack on there, Mr. Noah. Forecast's rain later."
Another sunrise with my sad captains, with who I choose to lose my mind,
And if it's all we only pass this way but once, what a perfect waste of time.

That cheese advert is kind of strange where girl disappears inside the Mum's shopping bag,
Strings and things Cheesestrings.

Can someone please quietly firebomb the ad agency that inflicted those feckin' Haribo ads on us?

One advert which I think is amazing is the one for Emirates airline where woman stands with placards on world tallest skyscraper. There is behind the scenes footage on You Tube to show how it was filmed and a professional skydiving instructor was used to ensure high levels of safety.

I love the Aviva West Coast trains ad with the rollerskating tortoise.

I'm not keen on those EE phone adverts for iPhone.

Vodafone has an ad running on the radio just now, all about how we should donate our old phones to a charity so that less fortunate people aren't living in "digital poverty".

I'm sorry? Digital what?

I'd be more worried about how some people are going to eat or heat their homes with some of the price increases.
This is going to be a difficult time for many people not to mention the pressures of Christmas.

I don't know what food prices are like in Glasgow but they do seem to be going up everywhere.
In Northern Ireland one electricity provider is increasing prices by something like 21.4% and a gas provider by around
21.8% so I would say there will be people struggling.

I was out and about on Friday, did a bit of shopping in M&S and Tesco. Not counting the Christmas stuff I bought, that came to about £30 worth of food, just for me, and that'll do me a week or so.

That just reminds me I have a gift card for M&S so will use it soon before I end up forgetting it.

Have still got my £100.00 card to spend.
They were issued to the people of NI in order to help the economy.
You are supposed to be able to spend it wherever you like though the idea was really to help places hit by closures etc during lockdowns. There have been some arguments though as some people were going to supermarkets and buying Amazon gift cards.

Need to get cracking though as I think you have to use it by certain date next month.
