The fact remains it's a shite job. You're away from home 3-4 nights a week, constantly in the public eye, the hours have the potential to be very anti-social, many of your fellow MPs are arseholes and the wages are crap.

Dave you are spot on mate . I get the impression that most MPs are in the job for self grattisfaction rather than a commitment to the people they are there to serve. You know the pit falls of the job before you take it on.
NO EXCUSES.
Thank you. And why not.

Be fair Rab they do have to deal specifically and definately with the public.

I can recommend an excellent cardiac surgeon or perhaps being a bleeding heart is a comfortable position for you.

Just try and represent the views of half a dozen people for a week and see how you do. Then try and contemplate an entire constituency for five years.

Just found my own MP got £200 cash in hand a month plus his TV licence paid, Presumably the cash in hand is non taxable.

Evidence please.
"I before E, except after C" works in most cases but there are exceptions.

Aye, start with naming your MP and after breaking into his parliamentary office, blowing the safe, stealing the paperwork (if it isn't burnt) or taking an actual photo of the money being handed over in a fancy wine bar and post it here.

You've clearly got a grudge here, J. Care to specify?

Naturally. But your opinions appear to have led to your posting unspecific allegations about local elected representatives on a number of threads, not all of which (unlike this one, I suppose) are appropriate.

Type inthe MP you want to investigate re expenses to the Guardian Newspaper website. ie John McFall MP Expenses Guardian. You will see in Jan/Feb 08 he spent £800 on food plus £1,000 for each month on a mortgage.Although it
seems to go higher for some months for some reason. Ann McKechine charged £82 for a locksmith after locking her self out. John Robertson charged for a TV licence. Some charge for window cleaning and other cleaning. However "food" seems to be a common claim. Have fun if you want to spend a day or two grinding through them. Its in these forms that you will find claims for £200 cash in hand.
