Google Street View

Postby Jazza » Thu Mar 19, 2009 11:38 am

Started to roll out the UK and it is AMAZING.

Go onto Goggle maps, zoom in, then drag the wee prange man onto the map.

So cool.

Go back down Edwin Street and you'll see you taking a photo of Google Car from outside Mr Sarwars office, have you still got that picture it'd be ever so interesting

It's already saved me walking down streets to see what's there. It'll make the blow-down reconnaissance easier. Mind you, I can see an awful lot of people wasting an awful lot of time looking for nothing in particular. Already guilty myself: *no* jakeys on the steps of the Queen's Park Hotel.

I did enjoy the Clifton Suspension Bridge, though.

My mate sent me this. Why would Strathclyde's finest think two shell suited lads would be under aged drinkers?

Was talking to someone earlier this evening about the privacy laws and how long it would take for public to complain. :)

Privacy row as Google brings Street View service to UK

March 20 2009
Google is facing fresh privacy complaints after launching a new service in the UK that allows web and mobile phone users to see 3D views of 25 cities including Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen.
Using the search engine's maps, Google Street View uses photographic images of public roads and major landmarks in British cities to create a 360-degree map that web users can click on to explore.
The company has spent almost a year collecting images, with a fleet of cars with roof-mounted 360-degree cameras crawling along nearly 23,000 miles of British roads.
