I used to run a bar which was chilli themed, nothing quite like hot peppers to get punters necking lagers. I used Scotch Bonnets but they seem fairly tame to these bad boys. Quite looking forward to it actually, I'll be sure to bring a stack to any summer drinks dos to let the HG massive try them

So long as you have heating a lemon tree should survive.

They're definitely indoor plants in this climate. Central heating and double glazing...

I have large windows front and back that make the place a suntrap. Lemons are mediterranean, so they need that sort of climate. They don't need much watering (about twice a week), but they must have light and heat.

I have two from last year's crop ear-marked, but if they become free, I'll let you know.

Re: Chestnut tree

Postby Dot » Tue Oct 20, 2009 5:20 pm

Had the chestnut tree cut by tree surgeon last week so it looks much better now.
There were branches hanging over hedge towards my neighbours garden so they have all been cut back.
Garden seems a bit brighter now there is a bit less of the tree and got a rather dead looking laburnum taken away.

Same man cut trees in my Dad's garden which were growing a bit too tall and close to an overhead wire.
Though his trees were fir ones.

Never a cheap outing mind you but thankfully I only get the tree done every so often.
My garden was £250.00 and Dad's was £120.00.
Got it for slightly less because agreed to pay in cash.

Anybody out there got any tips for me about these?

I have four of them but they do seem to grow at an alarming rate.
I had to do a bit of work on them today with the secateurs as they were starting to take over the garden.
One had got so tall I had to bend it over just to reach the bits I wanted to remove.
(I'm 5 foot 7 inches)
I have heard they can grow to 12 foot or so and perhaps I should have just got to them sooner.

That was an interesting sight I saw yesterday while out on my travels.
A guy was driving a motorbike in front of me and had a Forest Flame strapped to back of his seat.
I kid you not. ::):
