Bridie,

It is a while since I spent any time on the beaches of N.I.
I like beaches like Portstewart, Portballintrae and White Park Bay but you may prefer other locations.
There are other beaches like Tyrella.

Many years ago I went to the beach at Castlerock where they had an outdoor swimming pool nearby.
Freezing water but I gave it my best shot for a short time.

Go to the see and do heading on here and click on children and family option.

Donegal - haven't been there for ages.
We went to Rathmullan as kids and think it was quite unspoiled as I remember it.
Met a guy in Letterkenny in more recent times and he had a house at Burtonport.
Think there is a beach there though not sure what it is like.

Dot

Have you heard anything about a ferry from Ballycastle to Campbeltown?

I reckon it's a roundabout albeit beautiful journey only worth it though in the Summertime ::): not sure if it's up and running or if it's Cal Mac.

Bridie,

I have looked at a few sites and the last ferry from Ballycastle sailed in June 2002.
It was Cal-Mac that sailed on that route.
Has been talk of bringing back the ferry over the years but doubt it will happen now.

Talking of boat trips I see there is one from Belfast to Carrickfergus.
It is mentioned on here and click on Lifestyle heading.

You mentioned beaches earlier on and I liked going to Murlough Bay and Crawfordsburn as a child.

It rained here in Belfast from about 3pm yesterday and I am off work until Thursday.
Two days off for public holidays and am taking Wednesday on annual leave.
Thankfully it is sunny at the moment.

Bridie,

If you are reading this then I am sorry you are in pain with your back and leg.
Hope things improve for you soon.

Hi Dot

Thanks for the thoughts on the leg/back I'm no doc but I think that the length of time to wait to start the treatment on the leg has affected the back.
Boy did it rain in Fermanagh yesterday ( no prizes there for suprising post of the week) - cleared up now.

Have a good break away from work :D

Slight change of plan this week.
Supposed to be off work today but am taking tomorrow instead.
Have to go to the funeral of a neighbour who lived near me many years ago.

Bridie,
Hope the aches and pains aren't giving you as much bother.

Thanks Dot I've just been to the GP and he said that there is a connection to the length of waiting time for the treatment for the knee and how it's now affecting my back . He wasn't in agreement with NI health cutbacks on orthopedics and the Health Ministers handlings.

Sorry to hear about the death of your neighbour. They're like gold if you have a good one.

Bridie,

Do you know anyone going to this?

http://www.efestivals.co.uk/festivals/glasgowbury/2010/

Did you see this place mentioned on the news yesterday?
Think they said that people can go and see the view from the top for a small fee.
It is due to open in a few weeks but it seems that some people already think it is one of the ugliest
buildings around. This is now the tallest building in Belfast.

Bridie,

I hope you are still hangin' together as they say in Belfast.

I saw Julian of UTV fame yesterday prancing about with his shopping basket.

Have you met anyone from tv or of any note since living here?
I have spoken to Eamon Holmes at a charity thing and I met Paul Clark of UTV once at the Waterfront Hall.

Hi Dot :D
Yes I've heard of the Glasgowbury and curious as to how it got it's name?

The local BBC reporter down here is Julian Fowler and I see him in the town regularly.
So far since I've been living here I've seen "Jim McDonald " in Blakes Bar and Adrian Dunbar walking down the street. Also Neil Hannon has been here on some visit but I never see him. All local boys :D
Oh and I bumped into Tommy Tiernan out walking his dog by the lough on the Shore Rd where he had a boat moored. Ah?? name dropping here  ::): ::):

I saw the tall building on the news ( nice website) - is it flats or offices?

Oh Julian 8O

Bridie,

I think people can buy apartments in the tall building and believe they have sold quite a few.

As for name dropping, if the Glasgow folk can have their own thread so can we. ::):
Not so many famous folk over here I reckon.

I believe the founder of the Glasgowbury festival happens to be called Mr Glasgow.
I had wondered about that myself.

Hi de hi & ho de ho.

I have been out the country for a while and spent some time in Canterbury and Manchester.
Lots of cobbled bits in Canterbury so I bought myself a pair of flip flops but ones with a wee strap at the heel.
Thought that was safer and less chance of me stubbing my toes or tripping up.

Bridie,

I think Hugo doing the voice on the sat nav would be entertaining.
