I've been looking over the latest computer cases that I had delivered before Christmas. Both by Cooler Master.

Silencio 550
It's a bit like taking delivery of a Golf GTi rolling shell and then having to fit engine, gearbox and so forth yourself. Just looking around the inside, it has the finish and aroma of a well-built family hatchback than a cheap ghetto blaster.

The other one is the CM690 Advanced which is more like a Land Rover Discovery. It has rubber feet with tread on them like my hiking boots.

Both are engineered to take water cooling though I wonder why the holes for this are situated above the intended position of the power supply unit. I'm not installing anything that needs water cooling, thankfully. Not that I don't trust myself, but it's one less worry.

I didn't know you could get computers that are water cooled?
Or am I falling for a wind up??

Thanks DS.
Very pretty, just that you don't expect electrics and water to be in such close proximity other than in a motor vehicle.

I doubt the COPFS will be prosecuting many non-run of the mill cases any time soon. They may wish to retire to Bannerman's or Greyfriars Bobby's and lick their (self-inflicted) wounds. They may also decide to stop taking Kenny MacAskill's calls for a wee while.

I was wrong. It looks (according to the BBC) as if they're planning to tag religious aggravation onto the charges against the guys accused of sending a parcel bomb to Neil Lennon.

This should be interesting.

Maybe I was right after all. I believe the Crown Office has (quite sensibly in my view) decided to drop any religious/ sectarian aspect to the prosecution.

Paddy Power.

Could I ask those of you who like a flutter to put your business elsewhere for the next couple of weeks, please? Just until after Cheltenham is over. So as to let them know that their latest advertising is not acceptable.

Not that I do put on a flutter at all, but I've not seen it. Is it really bad?

Phone rung today and it was Scottish Hydro. I was a little preoccupied and wasn't sure exactly what it was that they were trying to flog. Something to do with boilers and central heating. I told them I rent from the council - the stock response to get rid of such people.

Then it occured to me that this might not have been unconnected. They called the other day and I didn't let them get anywhere at all, just said, "if your flogging anything, I'm busy just now", and that was that.

Three weeks ago I had a letter from the council reminding me it's time for a gas safety inspection. Local council aren't doing well in this regard at the moment. Coincidence or is there a data leak going on, I wonder? Anyone else had anything like this? There have been cases not so long ago of people having been in hospital receiving calls from ambulance-chasing compensation claims companies.

I'd have thought the last time a company looking for money to carry out something the local authority is legally obliged to is round about the time the LA is reminding you they do it for nothing.

Probably just coincidence. Right now I don't think the council could manage to do anything deliberate from where I'm looking. Had them on the phone again this afternoon. Not impressed. Wibbling about legal stuff when they're in the wrong. They wibbled about it before until I threatened to slap them down. Fraud Act on that occasion and had my money back. Not sure what this will involve just yet. Apart from monkeys...
