Big fire in the west

Lot of smoke for about an hour now, any idea what it is ? 8O

No idea. I heard fire engines and couldn't see Park Circus or the University tower for a while but it's clearing now.

Saw it on the train heading back to Dalmuir today heading by Yoker station. i thought it was down on the riverfront at first

That looked like an interesting yard as well, before the fire I mean :(

Christ! It's fair going eh?

The news article posted by GK said there was initially a delay in extinguishing the blaze due to the proximity of hazardous materials .. I wonder if that situation has been fully remedied yet as the actual conflagration itself doesn't seem to be abating.

My initial thoughts were "Are they keeping gas/oxygen tanks cool before they can tackle the blaze proper?

I was gonna take a walk down with the mutt and take some photos, but I see Peter has beaten me to it.

Anyway here's the view of the smoke cloud from my back room - the smoke has been getting blacker over the last hour
God knows what kind of toxic metals are being released into the atmosphere - me thinks i will be sleeping with the window closed.
