Ebay!

Postby Kirsty » Mon May 24, 2004 5:28 pm

Having just been outbid in the last minute on Ebay. I was wondering if any of our ehem  ...technically minded members, know if the software thingy you can subscribe to actually works? You know it puts a bid in for you in the last 10 seconds or so?? Or something like that.

I am sick of being gazumped!

ebay - and how was it for you then?

Postby escotregen » Sat Sep 25, 2004 9:21 am

Can I ask if anyone has used ebay much to sell things and how did it go? I've been asked to help a good friend dispose of his large sci fi collection of many years. I seems to me that Ebay is the best option, but 'I've never done it before'.

All this talk of being "sniped" at the last second, its an easy excuse to make. However, the fact of it is that the other person was simply prepared to pay more for that item than you. If you really wanted it that badly then you should have put in a higher maximum bid. Set the max price you will pay for it, and put in that bid close to the end. If you then get outbid, at least you know its because that person wanted it more than you. Theres no point putting in a snipe bid towards the end that isnt your maximum choice of bid. Least then you know that the other person has paid more for it than you were prepared to and you can wait until the next one comes along and bid your max on that.

Sniper software is a waste of time imo, plus some take money off you.
