This lot are good, they have supplied and built two sheds for me in the past.

at those prices they surely don't put down a base too?

No, you need to do that yourself or get someone else to do it.

We're hearing this on a regular basis now.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-21564412

Eleven children died in the UK over a two year period

Is it beyond the ingenuity of designers to make blinds safer?

Is it beyond the common sense of some parents to not have both a toddler and a noose knocking around?

There are blinds where, instead of cords for opening them etc, they have wee plastic rods that you rotate. Or they could just not have blinds I guess. Toddlers can injure themselves on pretty much everything, so taking a few wee precautions makes sense.

Precisely to the first part, which more or less renders the second part redundant.

Joshua Wakeham had been sitting on his bed looking out of the window when the blind cord became wrapped around his neck.

Eeermmmm.... what? Is this Harry Potter or something? Whatever the journalist was trying to do was killed stone dead right there.

Safety features are part of life, everything from stair gates to seat belts.
Are the plastic rods not for rotating the blinds and the cord for moving them?
I agree with you in that special care should be taken with them but I also think that the dangers should be highlighted both in design and to the public.

If you mean this sounds like a work of fiction,I read further down the report that this was the position his poor mother found him in and that he liked to look out the window.
Perhaps she should have realised but hindsight etc etc

I don't see why they can't have a rod for both, given how the mechanism works.

Spare the rod...

Most parents are aware of this but not all grandparents.

A pal lost his daughter to this a few years back.

To my shame I believed changes had been put in place such that manufacturers were obliged to insert a 'weakest' link into the blind cord so that it would fail if caught round a child's neck.

Checking on this it looks as if that didn't happen. Manufacturers simply agreed to supply a cleat to wind the loose end of a blind cord round.

That's not good enough.

Would anyone be able to point me in the direction of a decent letting agents that would offer rooms, flats or apartments in the south side?

This may sound incredibly anal but I can't trust companies that, for example (and by the way this is not dumping on any area here) advertise Allison Street in Govanhill as being in Shawlands. If they bullshit basic facts then what else are they lying about or what information are they withholding?

Thanks as always peeps
