Or scran.ac.uk ? You need to pay though to have access to the large images ( not that much though) , and there are serious restrictions on re-use of the images.

I only recently learned that Scran can be accessed for free with some councils' library cards. (Tough if you're not in one of the particular council areas, sadly. Mind you, it's by no means impossible to get a library card from a council area you don't live in.)

Couldn't work my way around Rampant Scotland - there's millions of stuff in there. 8O
Have to rule out Scran because I need the images for a video.
The story is about a young man leaving one of the Islands (and his love) to go fight in WW1.

I'm trying to (again) copy an image from Google maps.
I've got as far as prnt screen and pasted it onto a Word doc however I'm getting the whole page instead of just the picture of the street. Help

Hi Bridie, try installing a 'browser extension', it'll make life easier. I use this one http://awesomescreenshot.com/ it allows you to select which part of the page you want to capture, and you can edit it after capture, and then save it, or copy it.

if you use windows(later than xp) you should have "snipping tool" in your accessories folder.

if its xp you can download it from http://xpsnipping.codeplex.com/
