Can you see anywhere you want on that map and how do you circumnavigate it? :|

You can left-click and drag the map to navigate, zoom in and out ( I used my mouse wheel ) and change the map overlay via the dropdown. You are limited by the borders of the overlay map obviously.

Anyone any idea what this building was in the centre of this block near Duke St station? The old map has it as part of a church hall but I think it post dates this and from street view it has an industrial look.

Got the clicky thing to work!

I've always used Tinypics but I've noticed that the pic can change in to something else after a long while - any ideas why?
Is Photobucket better?

The last typewriter was produced at the Brother Factory in Wales and has been donated to the London Science Museum.

Just curious if anyone on here owns a typewriter and do they ever use it?

Dot,

I still have a wee Olivetti typewriter bought in 1968 when I first went off to Teachers' College. It still works (when I can scab a new ribbon) and I take it to school at least once each year to show my new class what we had to use after hand writing of letters passed on and before computers with their Word Processing facilities became the norm !

Tombro :) :)

tombro,

Good for you.

I don't have one myself though I do remember in a previous job many years ago they had one of the IBM golf ball style ones.
I think they had some sort of corrective ribbon to fix mistakes.
Not quite the same but people thought they were the best thing since sliced bread at the time.
I cut my finger one day after I tripped up over the lead on it and tried to stop myself falling by grabbing steel door of a filing
cabinet. Blood everywhere and then there was a trip to A&E.

Basically, it's just another attack on an already severely battered social underclass. I have yet to see definitive figure of HB loss, some sources say 14% for one extra room, rising to 24% for 2 or more. Others, 17%/25%. Still others reckon on up to 50% for 3 extra!

Whatever it is, it stinks. Big time.
