If every man I've ever encountered is to be believed, if there are screws & nuts left over then you didn't need them in the first place.

Does anyone on here get cash back when they do their shopping?
Just asking because someone in work was telling me about a scam where shop assistants had a method where
they were able to keep cash to themselves.

I always pay cash in supermarkets, for the same reason that they always get a shake of the head when they say "We're just doing a postcode survey...."

But go on, what's the alleged scam then, Dot?

I think it was along the lines that if someone doesn't want the cash that shop assistant
had a way of taking money and handing it to another assistant but without arousing suspicion.

It was an e-mail sent by someone to a lady in work and this alleged scam involved major supermarkets.

I have never taken cash except through cash machine.
Have given my postcode though.

I got a chain email about that too Dot. The shop assistant allegedly puts through cashback on your sale & doesn't tell you, lifts the money from the till & gives it to the next person in the queue who's their accomplice, they try to get away without giving you your receipt.

It's a chain e mail and it attacks workers rather than their employers who make millions from their customers and their overworked and underpaid staff therefore it's false.
"I before E, except after C" works in most cases but there are exceptions.

Anytime I've got cash at the checkout I've had to sign the receipt where it shows the amount I requested.

I rarely get cashback, unless I have forgotten to go to the cashline before going into the store, but I am always asked to prove the cashback amount

Do the Council put anything on pavements in Glasgow in snowy weather?

Over here there is a story in the paper that people are complaining because Belfast City Council are not treating
the pavements and I must say they are treacherous in places.
Fear of compensation claims seems to be the reason that they are being left untreated.
The Council say there is no obligation on them to treat pavements and the Roads Service has tried to
encourage the various councils in N.I. to grit.

Hospitals have reported an increase in injuries due to trips and falls.

Not treating in case of compensation claims? I must be thicker than I thought, cos that makes no sense to me whatsoever! :?

I can see (some sort of) sense in that.

I'm thinking along the lines of they treat Roads A, B, C ... U, V, W but not X, Y & Z.

Someone then falls and seriously injures themself on Road X and makes a claim on the basis that 'their' road wasn't made safe like the others were. If none of the roads are treated then that argument can't be made.

Not saying I agree with the thought process but I have heard arguments along similar lines being made in my own place of work.
