This will keep some of you awake at night. (just a bit of fun)

A man travels by car to a destination 25 miles away. The journey was made between 7 and 9am, so the roads were congested and progress was slow. The journey took 75 minutes, which means that his average speed was 20 miles per hour. He took the same route on the return and travelling in the middle of the day made faster time: his return journey lasted just 25 minutes, meaning that his average speed for the return journey was 60 miles per hour.

What was his average speed for the two journeys combined? :?

To calculate the average of two speeds over a given distance.

Add the distances, then add the times, and then calculating a new average: i.e., 25 miles + 25 miles = total distance of 50 miles. 75 minutes and 25 minutes = total time of 100 minutes. 100 minutes = 1.6666 (recurring) hrs. 50 miles divided by 1.6666 hrs. = 30 mph.

Congratulations to Viceroy :D

Anyone heard if there's plans to upgrade Exhibition Centre station at all?

I was at the Elbow gig at the Hydro on Sunday night, took one look at the seething mass of punters shuffling along the walkway and just decided to walk back to the city centre.
Another sunrise with my sad captains, with who I choose to lose my mind,
And if it's all we only pass this way but once, what a perfect waste of time.

Using public transport, what's the best way to get from Central Station to the Oran Mor in Byres Road?

I've never been to the venue, and I'm going to a gig there in September.

Maybe take the subway from St Enoch to Hillhead,
although the last train back is not long after 11pm?

Sometimes

or
http://www.travelinescotland.com/welcome.do

can give some handy options.

Gig starts at 7pm, so including the support band the whole thing shouldn't go on much past 9:30pm.

Thanks for the help. :)

If it's in the club space downstairs there's usually a curfew which gives them time to clear the space for dancing later. I think concerts finish no later than 10:30.

Cheers Dexter. I'll do a wee reconnoitre at some point in the near future, just so's I know where I'm going. :)

Why do people shopping in supermarkets take items from the shelf and walk halfway round the store and leave the items on another shelf? At Asda in Ibrox (other supermarkets are available) I counted about eleven items from tinned soup and frozen chicken to baby clothing. If you don't want it don't lift it or else take it back to where you got it.
