I don't want to disclose my own political views but does The Creeping Spleen and Doorstops enthusiasm stop at Independence or do you both genuinely wish for visitors to this country to have difficulty when spending their money?

I'm not wanting to start a fight but that s the way I've read your responses.

There's never been a problem finding a Scot in his native land who'll relieve you of any currency, any quantity, real or fake.

Ok, so if the SECC is "The Big Red Shed", and the Clyde Auditorium is "The Armadillo", then what does that make the SSE Hydo?

The UFO? The Spaceship? The Flying Saucer? The Mothership?

Someone just suggested that it should be nicknamed The Methadome.

Does anyone know how old this building is?

http://goo.gl/maps/9BnLv

Found an ancestor who's address on the 1901 census was 227 Church St, district of Maryhill.
Church St became Sandbank St and there is a No 227 however would this building been around in 1901?

My guess would be 1890's probably latter half of that decade.

Have you checked the street index with post office Directories for any clues as to numbering sequence

Thanks for that Brian :)
I'm trying to figure out both how to manoeuvre around the Post Office Family History site you suggested and how the ancestors managed to live in what must have been a new, flash house considering they were a mining family from the Rows.

Anyone else done research on Scotland's People and came across the idiot register, circa 1860's, who wrote in ineligible slanted hand writing - what do you do then?
Could it be easier to read the actual copy- if ordered?
