Very true but mind you there is a risk of that if you drill into any old plaster and lath tenement walls.
He advocated for the weak against the strong, the poor against the rich and labour against capital.

It was off Cathedral Street. Long gone. What's there now is the University of Strathclyde. The building at the end of the terrace was Canning Place School.

Thanks All :D
Reason I asked was a follow on from the thread " Lion Chambers" and the discussion about concrete buildings in the town, I started to read about the Carswells and their pioneering use of cast iron and steel for buildings.
http://www.scotcities.com/warehouses.htm
One of the Carswell brothers lived in Canning Place, described as large terraced houses built by the brothers;

The ones in the Mitchell pic,taken prior to demolition,look like those described.

Maybe it's just me but I would have thought that he would have lived in something a bit grander than that.

That looks like a single row of townhouses to me.

They may not be grand in that end-of-life snap, but I can see that they might well have been.

I suppose I was thinking in comparison to bay windowed ones. A bay window maketh a house :D
I'd like to see a pic of those terraced town houses in their splendour. Were there many of that particular design around the town - I wonder?

It's amazing,poignant and sad that an open field could have originally been a row of busy streets with houses full of people getting on with their lives.

And, having just returned from several days in a rather lovely rural area, vice-versa.
