I havent heard anything to that effect yet however a collegue of mine went to City Chambers on Monday to have the documentation signed off and was told to come back in 6-8 weeks as there was such a demand. The deadline is September 1st.The Police quoted her the same for an appointment.A wee bit of forward planning wouldnt have gone amiss.

I think anyone who wants to restrict booze is going to be called a hypocrit given the he-haw being made over the Diageo affair.

There's a lot of political posturing about Diageo.

To imagine Scottish Enterprise will find a business case where Diageo couldn't is fantasy UNLESS a whole bunch of public money is injected. At some point somebody is going to have to do a cost/ benefit analysis and either pay up or not. The sooner that's done the sooner the workers will learn their fate, one way or the other.

Aye, aye, I know, that phrase makes me cringe..

I pruned the thread. Your posts got caught in the crossfire, insofar as they made no sense in the absence of a context. Nothing personal. I took out posts from three Mods at the same time. :)

As predicted Scottish Enterprise reckon money to keep Johnny Walker in Kilmarnock - about £60 million - and even that 1) wouldn't save all the jobs in KIlmarnock and 2) would impact on the planned jobs in Fife.

No doubt Mr Swinney is rummaging down the back of the sofa as I write.

Having encouraged Scottish Enterprise to pay BDO Stoy Hayward £75,000 for "an independent consultants' report into Diageo's plans in Scotland"; East Ayrshire Council has decided it doesn't like what they've been told so they're doing their own
