I'm sure I remember Tom or Jerry getting tanked up on booze as well... they really are a terrible example to the kids of today!

The kids today start drinking before they are old enough to watch tom and jerry! ::):

Great exposure for Boomerang though.

One complaint and they go straight to their publicist /media dept and use it to their advantage.

Sure theres a lot of racist stereotypes that go along with the age of these cartoons... anyone got that Ofcom number???

Slow fade, is there not something about the southern woman in
the old Tom & Jerry cartoons. As far as I can remember you only
heard her shout "Thomas" and saw her feet.

Political correctness encourages the retreat of reason and is eroding society.

I can recommend the following book for anyone who wants to explore deeper:

Tom and Jerry is great though!

Are the right really that gullible?

Anthony Browne believes the explosion in aids came about as a result of African immigration.

Now who's being politically correct?

Did you hear this spazz on Today when he was forced to retreat on his claim that women enjoy Low Pay because of "different work/life choices" and "childcare breaks" rather than "sex discrimination", the alternative, "politically correct" explanation. He eventually agreed that there were a mix of relevant factors, including his "reasons".

He defines Political Correctness on his terms and then ascribes it to the usual supects such as the Guardian and the Independent.

Here's a typical unevidenced and lunatic claim

"Many on the left in Britain supported the Ayatollah of Iran's call to murder Salman Rushdie for insulting Islam..."

I must have missed that one when it appeared in Socialist Worker.

What are you talking about? Only you are saying that! I'm not claiming the executive are doing EVERYTHING in their power, but if we were to go the way of the likes of Sweden you would be complaining like hell about loss of civil liberties or some fucking think or another!
Vladimir wrote:You know the greater evil! Its so obvious that the emphasis is against smoking but seriously apathetic towards alcoholism. The number of people that I meet who think smoking is the evilest thing on the planet but get totally plastered almost every night is amazing!

There is a difference between alcohol abuse and alcoholism.

Denmark -a country HALF the size of SCOTLAND with a similar population- has worse stats than the UK when it comes to alcohol abuse.

You don't live int he UK do you?

This is exactly the point. If the cause of the aids explosion was proven beyond any doubt to be linked to immigration, there are still people who would refuse to believe it for fear of being labelled racist while young men and women are dying needlessly.

I also believe with all my heart that we must be careful not to mariginalise or alienate people based on half baked facts.

Sometimes the truth is hard to bear. However when we stop having an open and honest debate about issues that affect society, then we might as well chuck it now.

I'm sorry but are you seriously suggesting that the aids explosion might have come from African immigration.? Nothing to do with lifestyle choices. he's not saying the source of aids he's saying the explosion. Who's he not wanting to offend. Monkeys?

Too true! I hope the £50 fine makes him think twice about being so silly again in the future . Meanwhile, the butterfly effect of the fumes from 70,000 cars sat stationery waiting to get out of Mount Florida kill a herd of Serengeti wildebeest. But does anybody care???
