I had to attend an emergency dental appointment last week and my dentist highly recommended Sensodyne. I gave it a try and the result was bliss.

Daughter of mine has just informed me that she's at third interview stage for a job teaching English to South Korean Primary School kids as a second language.

It means she's away for a full year but what an opportunity .. travel there and back fully reimbursed and four star accommodation supplied free as part of a guaranteed 12 month contract.

Fingers crossed.

My daughter decided to go into teaching after working in Thailand helping in one of the schools on her gap year.

Sounds exciting. Fingers crossed for her too. Have there always been gap years... I don't remember anyone having gap years when I left school? I'd have liked a gap year. Would like one now!!

Please be careful when ordering flowers via Interflora unless it's just my unfortunate example and having to deal with "the only interflora florist in the village" aka no local competition!

Flowers missing ,full of filler and the scant flowers that were added were dying. The picture does it justice!! - the leaves are brown speckled and rotting in the less than half filled vase.
It's bad enough that it spoils Mother's Day and the fact that she spent £32.00 however what if it had been sent to someone in hospital or to someone that you don't know very well and they didn't like to complain.

The trouble with Interflora is that you've no control over what happens at the 'other end'.

If your recipient is in a one florist village it might be worth doing a recce to the next town or village next visit. A good florist a few miles away might be prepared to do the delivery for a small extra charge if you order direct from them and pay over the phone by card.

Interflora take an arrangement fee at both ends (I believe) so it'd be a win-win-win for you, the delivery florist and the recipient.

Interflora offered a speedy refund however no other compensation!
The local florist are at it if they thought that was anywhere near a sufficent service.
Someone told me on FB that when they lost a relative friends sent a bouquet in good faith to them. The bouquet was abysmal with wilting flowers etc. They lied when asked if the flowers were nice in order not to offend or upset their friends.
Wonder how often this happens

Sounds as though customer service could have been a bit better too.

I have ordered flowers online quite a few times and have used Interflora but have used another company which I have
always had good service from. They have always been fresh and arrived when they were supposed to.
I have also had flowers from them sent to me by a relative two or three times.
They can do flowers by post, florist or courier.

Perhaps an option next time is just do what my son in England did for my birthday.
He had a book from Amazon sent direct to me which was easy for him as no trailing round shops etc.

"Reminding someone you haven't forgotten them" - that's the sad truth. That's part of the reason I feel rather uncomfortable about the whole thing, it's almost like amnesty day for bad sons and daughters, you haven't rung your mum "just because" in six months, so you can send her a bunch of flowers and a card and that makes everything fine.

I think I started a tradition this year. Didn't bother with a card or flowers, ordered her a curry from her favourite Indian restaurant instead.

Most acute hospital areas now won't allow flowers due to the infection control risks.
