What a shitty thing to do.
In the grand scheme of things probably not a big deal, but I and many many more peple enjoyed the tradition of the wee bear's changing seasonal apparel.

:( Buggers, I loved that Paddington (and Paddington in general - still do) he brightened up a dull journey back to noddy land.

Indeed.

Very sad indeed to hear this. Not often a bear becomes a landmark.

Don't know much about Paddington, it says this one was unique as in made by a work friend-

but I found this on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PADDINGTON-BEAR-W ... dZViewItem

Now that's probably not the one (though give him new boots and a different hat 8O - and this one was a window sill bear too) but maybe they can find another one just like him to love. :( :)

Eta: There's more than this one listed

I've got a Paddington in a blue coat (which I believe is more accurate), although his hat & gloves are missing.

Is the Paddington that lives on Hyndland Road still there?

You'll see it if you come up Clarence Drive, above Malcolm Campbell's (I know it's Peckham's now but it will always be Campbell's to me)

Sad news :( First it was gnomes being kidnapped and their
owners getting postcards from exotic locations. Sadly this
one, bears more of a financial motive.

Should that not be another thread... like people & places that are still known by thierfirst surnames... like jean thomas has been married to dave clark for 30 years but people still call her jean thomas
