Are you shy ?

opposite minority, no one else a bit larger than

Me! Used to be shy but gave it up. Being loud and extrovert is much more fun....

I guess drink has an awful lot to do with this ?

Shy = sober
Extrovert = had a few


Wee bit simplistic conclusion maybe, but we all know that drink does away with inhibitions.

I'm a non-drinker BTW.

I hate people who are loud and full of themselfs. I think they have something to hide, possibly their shallowness...

Problems arise with peoples perceptions of being
too far out when sober. Therefore drink can be
utilised as an excuse for a larger than life character.

Otherwise they will think your off yer heid....

Human beings are evil. I notice this all the time, that people will pick you apart, fild your weaknesses, then exploit them to make themselfs appear stronger. It seems to be subconscious in a lot of people... Why do we need to do this anyway!

Yes Vladmir, there's a world of monkeys out there, daily
climbing branch by branch. A bit of a parallel to 2001
space odessey, it's just the sticks and stones got bigger.

It probably goes back to the instinctive animal nature.
Many animals fight each other to be top dog, perhaps the nit picking, & insults, directed at people is "modern" mankind's way of doing the same thing, without the punch up

Added to that, there's certainly an inbuilt human/animal dislike of anyone percieved as "different"

Yes GK. The collective fears difference. It's 10 times better
to be different than be a clone. Even though you might put
a few noses out of joint by dropping out of the
"Big Brother - Series 7" armchair mentality.

I consider myself to be one of the 18%. I can talk
pish all day to anyone and talk even more pish to
anyone with a bucket in me.

I think the difference between being outgoing and
chatty, and being an extrovert / show-off is being
able to know when to shut up and listen to others,
(especially the quiet ones), when they have
something to say. Just nod in agreement, then
you can always talk about them when they go to
the toilet.

it depends on the company (i'm sure this is the same for everyone)

I find that people in general are boring (if the topic of someone's conversation is big brother 7 then i'm really not going to want to join in)

If i find myself in with a group of people who i know i have little in common with then conversation is going to be thin on the ground

if on the other hand i'm in a group with like-minded people then i'll be outgoing and chatty

but of course, booze still helps

Mmmm - don't you think it's often shy people who are more self-centred? I've often found that extraversion is fuelled by a genuine love and interest for other people. The quiet shy people are often so hung up thinking everyone's looking at them...

I think we are all self centred, its just the loud ones like telling everybody! Ive met plenty loud people who are neither interested nor love the people they hang around with and just do it so they dont end up at the bottom of the social pile...

I worked with a few loud mouths, can't think of any who were interested in anyone other than themselves
