I used to go into my local menzies library and ask the old ladies (because this one only employed old ladies) where fluid/gay times/other gay magazines were, just for the awkward look on their face.

ever looked at the adverts at the back of those magazines, btw? It's all "For the loved one in your life, buy this swarovski crystal buttplug" and stuff like that. Ew.

My cousin and I used to go out on the piss of an afternoon and wander into crowded papershops to buy jazz mags to see the look on people's faces. Now that I think back, though, I never actually ended up owning any of those bloody magazines ... always knew my cousin was a wanker!!!

I was on Gallowgate one early evening last year on a bus into the city cente and I did, however, see a bloke coming out of Private Lines, suit on, looking shifty, exiting said shop carrying the proverbial brown paper bag under the arm. I thought that the "brown paper bag coming out of hardcore porn shop" was a myth until I saw that!

Empire Stores, Gratan, etc.. gets your imagination working.

I recall years ago a catalogue in my parents bedside drawer, i'm pretty sure it was something along the same lines as ann summers.(heeeuuugh)

Moving swiftly on, I inadvertently got my brother busted by leaving his stash out, I was too young at the time to fully appreciate the ladies inside pushing back the boundaries for artisitc purposes.
It was more of a pictorial story board, lady of the manor type scenario.

I had a quick shufty through back behind the storage heater and went out for a game of 7 by's only to return to a destraught mum who had obviously found the grumble, I over heard my aunte console the lod dear by saying "well at least he is interested in the wimin"

Yes indeed so, one sock was found that had a knoop rating of 5.26
Which to the untrain person means that it was just slightly harder than diamond.
There was also an episode involving a Star Wars annual.

Aye Bex I’ve heard of the Knoop Scale of measurement
(Professor Adolph Knoop 1905 - 1985)

When washing the garment was a small toffee hammer used?

No, the toffee hammer was never brought to use, in fact the said item of foot wear was polished up and presented to HRH Diana Queen of Hearts at a Gala Dinner at the Brewers Fair, Knuttsford. Herts.

For those that are not au fait with the Knoop Scale and the Maris Piper Index then these forms of measurement relate to...

Knoop Scale...The index used to determine the risidual hardness of a item used in the mopping up of bodily secretions and left undescovered for some amount of time.

The Maris Piper Index...The Scale used to determine a adolescent males skins translucency, came about by the many long hours spent in a darkened room.

*In 1958 young Master J Beadle (Northants) was found to have had a skin translucancy level of 0.0643 on the Maris Piper Scale, thus exposing his internal organs.
