I guess that technically they have a point, but it extends to all isps and webmail providers. Gmail are just honest about it.

Gmail's just plain better than anything else.

Yes thanks YokerBloke. I got the hang of it in the end, as in 'read before you delete' :)

My current storage space seems to be going up constantly, when I first joined, it was 1gig space now it over 2gigs.
I know they are upping the storage space fo each memeber. But 2gigs+ for each member is unbelievable.

You are currently using 0 MB (0%) of your 2088 MB.

Also, I used around 16 of my 50 invites and thats gone back up to 50 again. Nice.

I find it a lot more accessable than my ISP's email these days (NTL)

its great mate, especially the search tool. havent deleted an email since the day i opened the account 8)

Were i wearing a tin-foil hat i'd be screaming about the fact that that's exactly what google want you to do. keep 'em all.

The less paranoid among us (oh! they'll profile you! like that hasn't been going on for years...) realise it's a good service, unmatched indeed, and will just get on with it.

Anyway, we all use secure non-public sites for arranging our terrorist activities, drugs/gun smuggling, and dogging get-togethers.

They're all at it. I was passed this little gem about AOL (spit) a while back:

"AOL has posted new terms of service for AIM, that include the right for AOL to use anything and everything you send through AIM in any way they see fit, without informing you. A sample passage: '...by posting Content on an AIM Product, you grant AOL, its parent, affiliates, subsidiaries, assigns, agents and licensees the irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide right to reproduce, display, perform, distribute, adapt and promote this Content in any medium. You waive any right to privacy.'"

I'd never consider taking on AOL (real name - America Online - in case anyone forgot) as my ISP, it has a closed shop type of operation and that seems a tad sinister to me.

I like gmail. but this is a strange thing to have in an empty trash box?!

No conversations in the trash. Who needs to delete when you have 1000 MB of storage?!

Anyone slightly techie that knows how AOL handles data packet transmission would probably see that as a good enough reason not to touch them with a barge pole anyway.

Remember, its's not just AOL, there's the Time-Warner bit too.

Should be some way to have them fined for pulluting and waste production, with all those damned CD's they distribute that just get thrown away. For anyone that doesn't know, there is a site in America where you can send them. God knows how many they've collected by now, I forget the address.
