"No Time Like the Past" by jodi Taylor. Book 5 in the "Chronicles of St. Mary's" series.

Basically, it's time travelling historians. Good series, not as dull as it sounds.

A friend on Facebook recommended the first book "Just One Damn Thing After Another", I saw it was 99p on Kindle and took a chance.

Liked it enough to order books 2-6 from the local library.

Just picked up a copy of Stephen Hawking's 'A brief history of Time' in The Works chain. Will be interesting to see how far I get into it until my brain hurts or I fall asleep. 'Er indoors suggests probably page 4.
Always been impressed about how some people can handle cosmology and other serious out of this word things. As an auld railway engineer I have no problem handling reasoned facts and arguments, but space, time, black holes and so on really hurts my head :?

"The Little Old Lady Behaving Badly" by Catharina Ingelmen-Sundberg, translated from the Swedish by Rod Bradbury.

Third in the "League of Pensioners" comedy caper novels. Think of it as "Oceans 11" meets "Still Game".

Bleak House, it's a bit of a struggle though. Dickens' books are so long you can use them as doorstops.

"Alphabet House" by Jussi Adler-Olsen, translated from the Danish by Steve Schein.

In early 1944, two RAF pilots are sht down deep in hostile territory. Fleeing their pursuers, they manage to board a train - which is full of wounded SS troops on their way back from the Eastern Front.

Panicking, the two pilots swap places with two of the SS officers and pretend to be unconscious. But as the train nears its destination, the two realise they're being sent to the mysterious Alphabet House - a secure mental institute for high ranking officers damaged by the war.

"Kings of the Wyld" by Nicholas Eames.

Fantasy with a broad streak of black comedy running through it. Sort of "The Magnificent Seven" meets "Conan the Barbarian".

I started reading Frank Scobet's book "Conquest of slots: how to beat slot machines!" on the recommendation of my friend. The book is worthy of attention since it describes all possible ways of different mathematical theories, which is very useful, the main thing is to have a good mathematical basis for a deeper understanding of the book. If you like to play https://theinternetslots.com, then this book is for you.

Just finished "Forever and a Day" by Anthony Horowitz. A James bond novel fully authorised by the estate of Ian Fleming. Pretty good, an improvement over his previous Bond "Trigger Mortis".

Now onto "The Monogram Murders" by Sophie Hannah. An Hercule Poirot mystery fully authorised by the estate of Agatha Christie.

I have just finished a book about Scots Swedes, called The Scots in Sweden by Th. A Fischer. We talk about the Auld Alliance with France, but our influence in Sweden is forgotten.
