I'll keep an eye open for them. :)
Another sunrise with my sad captains, with who I choose to lose my mind,
And if it's all we only pass this way but once, what a perfect waste of time.

'Culloden' by John Prebble. Confirmed my long-held view that Charlie was a complete twat.

"Commando Country" by Stuart Allan.

I picked this up about eight years ago while I was at an exhibition in Edinburgh Castle about the history of Commandos during WWII, put it to one side to read later, and forgot about it until t'other day when I was having a bit of a clear out.

It's fascinating stuff. Until now, I'd no idea that almost a quarter of Scotland - between Oban and Inverness - was a "Protected Area" and you couldn't get in or our without a pass. This included the folk who actually lived there.

Then there's Lt. Col. "Mad" Jack Churchill (no relation to Winston) who'd stride into battle brandishing a sword.

"Terry Pratchett: The Spirit of Fantasy" by Craig Cabell.

Not quite a biography, more a celebration of the great man's life and work.

"Forsworn", "Servant of the Crown", and "Murder at the Kinnen Hotel" by Brian McClellan.

A trio of novellas filling in some of the backstory from the author's "Powder Mage" novels.

"The Apocalypse Codex" by Charles Stross.

Book four of "The Laundry Files", urban fantasy that reads like "Torchwood" meets "Yes, Minister" as written by H.P. Lovecraft.

Glorious fun, some real laugh out loud moments.

"The Aeronaut's Windlass" by Jim Butcher.

From the author of the hugely popular "Dresden Files" urban fantasy novels, comes the first book in a new sci-fi/steampunk series "The Cinder Spires".

Equal parts "Dune" and "Pirates of the Caribbean", with just a dash of "Tom Brown's School Days" and "Harry Potter".
