Fire without a smoke?

All these kinda arguments came up with ma mates in Ireland...but the law still came in. I'm just wonderin' if Scotland'll roll over and play ball too.
Pubs have suffered a bit in atmosphere, but cafes and restaurants are definately much better with no smoke. There's also an interesting 'smoker at the door' community that's evolved with beer gardens and heaters suddenly popping up in all sorts of unlikely places. There's not many in Glasgow really and that would change.

S'not all bad for the beleaguered smoker really. Smoke what you like, I just don't have to breath it anymore.
The Jungle? Yeah, I do kinda miss it...but it's nice to get off the food chain, y'know?

I really hope they do bring in the ban. Finally, I might get to have a social life again. I'm very allergic to cigarette smoke (I'm an ex smoker too, which kind of explains why I was 6 and a half stone!), and even getting in the lift after a smoker can make me ill for days afterwards. Course, if I ruled the world, perfume and aftershave would be banned too

yes it is, £3.40 from each 20 sold goes to the government, i should know, i collect excise duty in my job.

with out this cash, the country would be in a far worse state that it is now. so if thats not a vital part of the infrastructure i dont know what is. sure it may kill a few thousand folk each year, but whats a few lives when thousands of pounds are at stake, those bombs dont grow on trees ya know.....

[quote="kn0wledge"]I hate smoke too. I hate people smoking on the bus,

*What I find most pathetic about that is that you will get the average ned or nedddette at the back of the bus who lights' up.
Now, everyone *KNOWS* it is them, but they still persist in hiding the cigarette and they then end down to take a fly draw, thinking that nobody knows that they are doing!

It is utterly pathetic IMHO.*

I hate the smell afterwards and I don't want to get cancer.

*Been there, done that, got the t - shirt and amusing novelty hat.

What you will find is that many young people who have or have had cancer take up smoking because to them, they have nothing to loose - they have already had what the warnings say and they feel that it cannot get any worse.
They only have nothing to to loose if they are terminally ill, the fools'!

Is that actually possible?? ;-)

Well nowhere would smell like an ashtray, which would be a marked improvement.

Declaring that I have lost 3 family members to cruel and crippling smoking related diseases (all were hooked at an early age by cheap wartime ciggies) any ban on this stinking addiction is to be applauded.

One of life's big jokes to me has always been smoking and no-smoking areas in restaurants etc. I've yet to see the smoke turn back at the boundary, so you still end up in a smoke filled room.

Smoking's only exists now by habit and big business, the tobacco co's give the things away in underdeveloped countries to get them hooked now that we're getting smarter.. Tax is irrelevant since the contribution is eaten up by hospitals treating smokers.

But you're saying pretty much the same thing, that's not very random, is it?

Although you are being distracting.....
