NOW Scandal

Postby Delmont St Xavier » Thu Jul 07, 2011 11:50 am

Assume that most have witnessed the unfolding events of 'hacking' concerning the News International's Sunday tabloid NOW.

Accusations at this stage of 'hacking' into the phones of families ranging from the McCann's to family members of Service personel killed and the Soham tragedy....mind boggles.

Are there any reasonable grounds to hack phones for journalistic purposes?

With all the advertisers and now the Royal British Legion suspending their business with NOW - are its days numbered?

Not that I agree in the slightest with the actions of these weasels masquerading as journalists but the hypocrisy of a public throwing it's hands up in disgust at the actions of said journalists when they have been eating the gossip and scandal they purvey for years now astounds me.

When you go digging in the dirt, you get dirty .. how did the readers of the N.O.T.W. think they got the scuttlebutt on these stories? By divine intervention?

I see Martin Lewis is taking an absolute pounding over his stance to keep his column in the rag.

You should read his reasons and his responses in the readers posts below .. I always thought he was a creepy little penny pinching fucktard of a man .. point truly hammered home as proven I think.

IMPORTANT update, 3pm 7 July 2011

Since writing last night, I’ve watched further news and slept (or not slept) on this, plus taken on board the overwhelming volume and tone of your responses. I’ve spoken with the paper’s editor this morning and asked that instead of running my column (filed last week) I have some space to write something of my feelings on what’s happened and the fact that it mustn’t be allowed to happen again – to which he’s agreed.

I’ve also decided to take some time to think this through calmly and listen to the facts as they develop – while I do so I won’t be writing for the paper.

(I do hope this "Breaking News" doesn't turn out to be a hoax while I'm on my way home from work & therefore unable to delete the above).

It's on the BBC website and they don't normally do hoaxes. Am I just being a bit cynical or would this decision be influenced in any way by the Govt. about to announce their decision on SkyB????

Murdoch's measured response to the crisis engulfing News International, or pulling up the drawbridge to protect the chosen ones, such as himself and Rebekah Brooks?

Can't stand the guy. Particularly hate his pontificating on subjects he knows nothing about... insurance for one. Listened to him recommending the cheapest travel insurance deals on GMTV one morning & wondered if he was going to open a helpline for all the poor sods who bought the stuff, tried to claim but couldn't get anywhere because the insurance company were too busy counting their money.

Sometimes you really do get what you pay for.
