Firefox upgrade

Postby Grahame » Thu Mar 24, 2011 9:24 am

Has anyone else upgraded to the new Firefox 4.0 yet? I've just installed it and it has really made a dramatic speed difference. The forum pages are loading lightning fast! :D

I was dubious of it, due to the fact that 3.6 was so crappy, but so far pretty impressed

 Just one point to remember....
As long as your system software is up-to-date, installation should be no problem...
If however, like me, and using an older PC...trying to install V.4 unsuccessfully results in a complete loss of ALL backed-up files and folders previously built-up through useage..........and trying to get back on Firefox with the previous version....is a big headache as well...................SO BE CAREFUL...!

Mac version's not so good, a bit better than the awful 3.6 but it struggles badly with flash or any script intensive page

The 'right click' menu to open in a new tab, window etc doesn't work either.

Edit: it does from links on the page but not from the bookmarks toolbar

AVG giving me at least two virus warning on installation of the newer version.
Anyone else get that?

Everything working fine here, including all the bells and whistles. Maybe its cause I am using Windows 7 Home Premium and the upgrade is more in tune with that. :?:

I'm using Windows 7 professional.
I've uninstalled.
Scanned with both AVG and Malwarebytes and seem clear now.
Might have been a coincidence.

Have you got the bookmarks toolbar switched on BD?

Try right clicking a bookmark and selecting "open in a new tab"

Won't do it for me .. I have to click on the new tab 'plus' button and then manually open the page.

I can right click from the bookmarks dropdown menu or from links on the page but not from the toolbar.

Most odd.
