custodial sentence

if tommy sheridan loses will he have to pay back the money he won in the first case.and how long can he expect to get in prison,and will he and his wife have to pay the court costs not only for this trial but the previous one as well.

I think an appeal by the NotW is still pending to await the outcome of the Trial. If TS is found guilty, the NotW appeal will almost certainly be successful - I'm note sure they handed the money over as yet (as they'd launched an appeal)

As for sentencing, my initial guess was around the 5/6 year mark.

Yes. They're facing separate charges.

Although not to confuse matters, they could be facing the same charge and the jury is entitled to reach two different verdicts.

What are you supposed to get out of it? Is it a legal requirement that every trial should benefit the taxpaying public?
