So what's it doing on this topic. IDS, Unwashed? Great. War. Still not over Iran ?

Here's a bloke with a not very bright idea:

(Reuters) - An unemployed Austrian man sawed his foot off, apparently to avoid being found fit to go back to work.

Hours before an appointment on Monday for the labor office to check on his health, the 56-year-old man held his left leg against an electric saw in his home workshop and severed his foot just above the ankle, Austrian broadcaster ORF reported.

Bleeding profusely, the man from the province of Styria then threw the foot into an oven, hobbled to his garage and called an ambulance. An emergency operation was unable to reattach the foot, ORF said.

I'm pretty sure that ATOS would send him back to work anyway. I'm also pretty sure that someone with such a carefree approach to sawing off limbs would not be most people's ideal work colleague.

That's a 'whoosh!' on me, I'm afraid. Or, to put it another way, 'Eh?'.

I'm still mildly panicking that the current UK Government will back a U.S. attack on Iran, I have to say...

Given some of the interesting decisions the Condem government have made recently I wouldn't be surprised if they backed an Iranian attack on the US.

Not to gainsay that point, but an attack on Iran would be a serious, major world class event, and I think that trivialises the seriousness of it.

The U.S. has been clearly building up to it, and the UK has been, essentially, a U.S. lapdog for years. Any sane governing party would tell them to sod off, and then change the locks.

In general, I think most of the bonkers (to any non-Tory cabinet member) 'reforms' are reversible. I'm most worried about the 'regional pay differential' and Iran issues.

Even then, the first of those is still theoretically reversible.

I can't but accept your chastisement although I should make it clear I had no intention of trivialising the seriousness of such an event.

A US attack on Iran would a wholly different matter to Iraq or Afghanistan and would almost inevitably start a major regional conflict almost certainly involving the Israelis, the Saudis and others.

Again, without wishing to trivialise the UK death toll in Iran and Afghanistan, it isn't of a wholly different order over 10 years or so to the number of British lives lost on Falkland over a period of about 10 weeks.

"I am shocked that the rich avoid paying tax" says George Osborne, beneficiary of a £4m offshore trust fund set up to avoid paying tax.

On a different note. Yesterday (yes it was Easter Bank Holiday Monday) I received a phone call from a man calling on behalf of ATOS ordering me to attend a fitness for work medical assessment on the 22nd April. When I mentioned the date fell on a Sunday he said they were carrying out assessments 12 hrs per day,7 days a week.

Another Tory party bitch, since sidestepped to UKIP, has raised her foul little cackle in defence of yesterdays ridiculous statments { http://procapitalist.wordpress.com/2012 ... d-to-vote/ } by a Tory Councillor that the unemployed should not be allowed to vote.

Not only is she supporting his statements, she is raising the ante by actually saying that allowing the unemployed to vote is "dangerous".

This utter, UTTER cunt of a woman is completing a PhD in "Social Darwinism".

For those of you unaware of the concept .. a précis is as follows .. "It especially refers to notions being used to justify social policies which make no distinction between those able to support themselves and those unable to support themselves" .. in other words, if you can't swim, even though you are surrounded by those who can (some of whom have lifeboats with room to spare) you should be allowed to drown.

Social Darwinism has given birth to such joys of humanity as Nazism, imperialism, fascism and, surprise surprise, eugenics.

Future of Britain people, future of Britain.

I hesitate to say this, but I really wish some of these hateful people would wake up paralysed from the neck down by a mysterious illness .. see how long they hold onto these disgusting ideologies then.

I hovered my cursor over that link to the Thatcher thing and then thought better of it. I'm in a fairly good mood right now!

Iain Duncan Smith: 'I’m not scared to light the fuse on disability reform’

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politic ... eform.html

"As Iain Duncan Smith strides into his office, complete with military tie, he is keen to report back from the front line.

There is nothing to worry about, most of “them” are more interested in getting drunk and getting to the shops before they close than mounting any further attacks. The Work and Pensions Secretary has been wandering unrecognised among thousands of civil servants and other public-sector workers on strike in Whitehall, overhearing conversations and generally taking the temperature. "The government has ended a contract with welfare-to-work company A4e after deciding that continuing would be "too great a risk", it has said.

Employment minister Chris Grayling said the Mandatory Work Activity contract to help up to 1,000 jobless people in south-east England find work would end.

The firm is the subject of a police investigation into allegations of fraud relating to government schemes.

An eighth person was arrested on Monday."

Sorry about the above. Josef's quote looks out of context but if you've been following the A4E bit of this thread it makes sense.
