It's truly shocking Dex, the cynicism of these bastards and how little the Daily Mail reading contingent actually believe of the truth, when it comes knocking. My parental units are only starting to believe the things I say about the cuts in disablity benefits and where they will fall ie. more on the deserving than was ever felt possible after they read about PC. Rathbands short handed treatment.

Can I urge my fellow HG'rs to sign this as a matter of some urgency .. closing 75% of factories set up to help the severely disabled because of their "unprofitability" is nothing short of scandalous.

RBS has set aside 100 times more to cover bonuses than Remploy loses over a fiscal year.

And does anyone actually believe that factories that should be getting governmental contracts as a matter of course through the EU mechanisms that favour companies staffed, in the main, by the disabled haven't been systematically starved of said contracts in order to make them "appear" to be failing?

I know I fucking don't. It's a shameful fit-up.

There's already provision for this in that Article 19 of the New Public Sector Procurement Directive states:
Reserved Contracts states

‘‘Member States may reserve the right to participate in public contract
award procedures to sheltered workshops or provide for such contracts to be
preformed in the context of sheltered employment programmes where most of
the employees concerned are handicapped persons, who, by reason or the nature
of their disabilities, cannot carry out occupations under normal conditions.
The contract notice shall make reference to this provision’’

The new regulations came into force 31 January 2006. These regulations enable public
contracts to be reserved or supported factories and businesses, where more than 50%
of employees are people with - disabilities - because of this RSBi meets the specified
regulations.

The above is from the City Building brochure in respect of their working relationship with RSBi (Royal Strathclyde Blindcraft Industries). http://www.citybuildingglasgow.co.uk/do ... boutUs.pdf

Lansley refuses Court order to publish NHS Risk Register until after the bill becomes law.

Our only hope now rests in persuading Liberal Democrat MPs to vote on the 13 March 2012 with Labour to 'drop the NHS bill' after a debate has been heard on the NHS e-petition. You can contact Lid Dem MPs with a simple click, using this link ..

http://eoin-clarke.blogspot.com/2012/03 ... idvar.html

Tweet them .. tweet the FUCK out of them

Don't bombard them though .. that will just make them ignore the multiple tweets on the pretext of us being demented.

One tweet .. every LibDem MP .. from all of us.

Takes two minutes. And gives them a message .. ignoring court orders is only going to piss us off.

You need to rewrite the tweet as they do indeed ignore loads of tweets all saying the same thing - that you don't care enough to spend two minutes thinking up something original to get the message across.

When you click on the MP's twitter address, it pops up a window with the text of the tweet already selected so what you need to do first is write your own message and then copy it into your computer's clipboard using CTRL-C or Edit->Copy or whatever it is on your machine. Then simply paste CTRL-V or Edit->Paste to replace the higlighted text. Then send...

it took about five minutes to think up this bit of rubbish and tweet it to all twenty or so:
If you don't vote to 'drop the NHS bill' after the e-petition debate, I will betray your mashed spuds to the space aliens.

Lib Dem activists have voted at their spring conference in Gateshead to oppose the government's bill to reform the NHS.

The party leadership lost a ballot on the issue by 314 votes to 217.

At last a party starting to see that they are doomed if they dont listen to the electorate. This wont by itself kill the bill but it sends out a strong message to the oppressive Tory leadership.

Not sure if this is anything to do with cutbacks or just ineptness and I apologise if it's a bit of an indulgent thought for today on my part but we as a society are really shit at looking after our old folk.

Care Home residents denied basic GP services

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-17264349

Martin Green, from the English Community Care Association, a group representing the owners of care homes, believes up to one third of residents could be missing out on the full range of GP services they are entitled to.

"There is really bad practice out there. We have got to get out of the habit of saying 'there's some good practice'," he told BBC Radio 5 live.
"There are islands of good practice in a sea of bad practice. If you are paid to do a job, you should be doing it.
"If we had better quality of care, then older people wouldn't get into crisis and end up in A&E."

Its certainly confusing if you have a relative in a care home and who the medical care should come from.
You do, however need to seprate 'care' homes from 'nursing' homes.
In simple terms if you are in a nursing home, you should be cared for by your own GP if required as the link still remains.
Certain specialist nursing homes will however contract with a practice for general medical services, especially if their residents come from a wide geographical spread, think Erskine Home for instance.
He advocated for the weak against the strong, the poor against the rich and labour against capital.

I can see that, it's just to be hoped that the confusion is worked out by any Homes concerned.

If, as the BBC article says, he "he insisted he would still vote with Labour and wanted to see the party remain in control of the city" it ought not to make any difference whatsoever.

He goes on to say however ""I want to be a councillor and so that means I have to stand as an independent in the elections ................ "

It's maybe about time people, of all political complexions, worried less about the I want and a bit more about what's best for our city and our country.
