Taking up the Accordion, or Melodeon or Concertina. Suffer from insomnia so I reckon picking up one of these instruments and blasting away for an hour or two in the wee, sma' hours would be the ideal therapy. But I have a couple of questions - if I may - for those of you with a musical bent:

(1) I want to play traditional Scottish tunes (eg: Rowan Tree, Road to Dundee, etc). Is the concertina suitable for this type of thing or would it have to be an accordion or melodeon?

(2) Are there any good retailers in town apart from Biggars and Victor Morris(!)?.

If you can advise me on these points so that I can buy an instrument asap I thank you.

If you can't advise me and I can't buy an instrument asap my neighbours thank you.

Not sure Band Supplies would be any good for this type of instrument. They specialise in brass and woodwind, or they used to. So they've moved from Old Dumbarton Road? About time, although I'm sure the premises selection was decided by proximity to drinking establishments :D

Have you tried Rollison's Accordion's in Bellshill? They used to be in Mossend, now in Bellshill just opposite the road to Cardinal Newman HS and next to Graham's the Plumbers Merchants.

Autogenic drainage. It really ought to be taught by a physio but if you Google it you'll get the basic idea. It definitely works if done properly.

Many thanks HungryJoe, Jodie and RDR. Will check those out. Had forgotten Rollison's in Mossend, but definitely worth a look at their new premises in Bellshill. Give it a couple of weeks and I'll be Jerviston's Jimmy Shand (or hung, drawn and quartered by the rest of the street).

ps. South Side Music in Cathcart Rd So there really IS a Cathcart Road then...

That was quite useful, thanks. I need to practice a bit more.
I don't like to add anything to the steam water, last time it nearly knocked me out.

Excellent news, Kenny. Now, do us all a favour and keep the ensuing results to yirsel. ::):
