And I, in turn, am glad to hear that that is what you had intended to say.

I confess that I had rather interpreted several of your posts on here as being part of a negative campaign - not against independence per se, but against the people that have declared in favour of independence - that is clearly being waged at the moment.

Dr Goebbels would be right at home at Pacific Quay these days.

It's dificult to establish who, outwith the usual suspects, is actually in favour of separation since nobody at all seems to have a scooby what it might actually mean in practice.

I'll broadly agree with that.

I was, for many years, categorically in favour of independence, whilst voting Labour in UK General Elections. I'm now unsure, whilst voting 'not Labour' (hey, I live in Glasgow now) in UK Elections.

For many years, my registered tax office was in Birmingham (or somesuch). I'm unclear on how tax revenue is allocated.

I think the usual arrangement is that your tax office is the one local to your employer's head office and (I'm guessing) that if your employer outsources wages to a 3rd party, it may be their local tax office.

It's hard to see how allocation, at least in PAYE terms, can be dealt with on anything other than a 'where the income was earned' basis. No doubt a system will be worked out whereby monies collected on the 'wrong' side of the border can be remitted to the other side, border controls and currency exchange rates notwithstanding.

Indeed. I'll bear that in mind if I ever work in any of the very few European countries that aren't EU signatories. As, I'm sure, will our English and Welsh colleagues, who would be in exactly the same situation as the Scots post GB-dissolution.

That's it for me, I'm not risking the wrath of God by voting Yes.

I don't see his problem. They're keeping the Queen, The Bank of England's control over the economy and remaining in Nato. What more does he want The Nats to do: keep Trident and retain Club 12 in the SPL?

Anybody know what's happened to the seaplane?

All signs of it seem to have disappeared, leaving nothing behind but a non -speaking role in the visitscotland ad.

(And that's another question - why do they spend money showing that to people who are already in Scotland?)

Yes.

Although if you're not a motorist then it's pretty damn difficult to do that. I've still never been to the Borders. And the only times I've been to the Highlands were - yes - in somebody's car.
