An odd set of circumstances here. Last week my friend Yvette got the back window of her Micra smashed .. not completely in, just shattered with a hole not even big enough to stick your hand through.

Nothing stolen from the car, iPod, bags, shopping - all intact.

This morning she gets a knock at the door and its a recovery vehicle asking if she's phoned them to come have a look at the car.

She had the window fixed through the insurance the day after the breakage.

Any obvious scams I'm missing here?

The only thing that springs to mind straight away is a data leak from the insurance company. Deliberate disclosure of information that can identify an individual is an offence under Section 55 of the Data Protection Act 1998. Might be worth a chat with the gentleman of the blue lamp.

If the original incident was reported to the cops it's possible they were the source of the leak.

If it's too busy head for Bruadar opposite the Three Judges..

Well, that's me finally convinced that it's a really bad idea, then.

Energy firm SSE said there was also an increased likelihood of regulatory and legislative change to energy supply.

What with that being a really bad thing, and all. Energy supply and prices should definitely be left to the free market, eh?

I don't think that's what SSE is saying. They know they'll continue to be subject to legislation and regulation - it's the uncertainly about how those regulations and regulatory mechanisms will work that's causing concern.

Ah, right, got it. Ta.

Journalist cutbacks, I suspect. They get to dig out all those stories that they always used to print in the lead-up to UK General Elections about the markets being unsettled at the prospect of Foot/Kinnock/Wilson/Callaghan (fill in dangerous pinko of your choice) holding the reins of power, and all they have to do is change the company names....
