Ach! I gave in to the temptation to google it ( I knew the location ). Like a lot of these things that you can't work out yourself, it is pretty obvious when you are given the answer!

I didn't know the location and I didn't google it but I did look on Virtual Mitchell and saw something that illuminated my imagination! I was at it for 2 hours mind you!

I will post the answer sometime soon; but for those that like a wee puzzle I won't spoil it yet.

It's a nice little connection once you work it out!!

The legs look like lamp posts - recycling in the 1900s?

And ibtg (what does that stand for?) has it. (ok, a couple of others did too!)

The bandstand is found in Colliston Park in Dalbeattie and the Glasgow connection is "the legs".

...the large Octagonal Bandstand were added to complete the Park. Another local joiner, and nephew of the Burgh Surveyor, a Mr James Maxwell Wilson, built the Bandstand. The uprights of the Bandstand are formed from old Gas Street Lights, bought from Glasgow City Council, when electric street lighting was being put into the city.
