Is that a 'Ford Popular' over on the right?

It may well be. It is a Ford Consul my sister and I are sitting on. Great old cars.

Here is a shot of my dad and I sitting on his Ford Prefect in the late 60's. It was taken outside my Gran's somewhere in Parkhead. I would be grateful if anyone could suggest the street as I would like to revisit it. I think the large wall on the right may be the Barrs factory.

Sorry about the colorisation but I didn't scan this one.

Wonderful photo WB, you look so like your dad. Also, your eyes have not changed one iota, I'd recognise you now just from that pic.

Thanks HollowHorn. The photo is a little bit of social history. Look at the prams left out in the sun against the wall and the open windows in the tenement at the bottom where the mums would be keeping an eye on the sleeping babies. There are lots of people in the street, it was probably a Saturday as that is when we visited my gran. You can just make out a little shop down the left hand side and I used to get sent there to buy butter and it would come as a chunk in grease-proof paper.

I have the photo in a frame downstairs in the hall now.

Oh the memories - I need to go and lie down in a darkened room for a little while..........

He certainly is and he is fitter than me. He must have been about 22 or 23 when this photo was taken - Life was obviously hard in those days ::):

He was a mechanic and used to take me everywhere. I have vivid memories of being driven through Glasgow in the early 70's and seeing the tenements in the process of being ripped down.

I also had cousins in Parkhead and when I was a few years older I remember going with them to explore tenements which were in the process of being demolished. I only wish I had a camera then.
