The Band Aid Dilemma

Postby scotia47 » Tue Nov 30, 2004 11:23 pm

OK, here's the thing. I like to support good causes. At the moment, an obvious avenue would be buying the recently re-recorded Band Aid single. However, something's stopping me, namely the fact that I think the new recording is nothing but a steaming pile of horse manure.

However, help is at hand:

http://www.bandaiddilemma.net

This site encourages you to:

1. Buy the single.

2. Destroy it in whatever way you find most amusing/cathartic, making a photographic record of the process.

3. Send it in!

That way, money is still going to good causes, while there's less chance of someone having to hear the aural diarrhoea. Everyone's happy.

The new band aid record is perhaps the WORST thing I have heard in a long, long time.

Even the message is flawed: Do they know it's Christmas time at all ??

Well, NO because 'they' are NOT fvcking Christian and as such don't celebrate it!!

Idiots.

Can I point out that Midge Ure (came from Cambuslang) never got a knighthood like Bob.

Yeah all the artists on it were doing on about how great it was to work on this project... why on earth would they be happy with their name being linked to perhaps the most shit song of the year?

Go give money to a Scottish charity and help some of our own needy this Christmas.

Is that a lampshade with fern growing out of it he's standing next to, or do I just need more sleep?

I'm going to rock the boat here and say:

1. I think the original is pish.

2. I quite like the new version.

I realise I'm opening myself to a slagging, but I don't care. If you disagree with me fine, that's what democracy is all about....

1. Agree
2. Disagree - it's a steaming pile of horse manure.
There is no opinion, however absurd, which men will not readily embrace as soon as they can be brought to the conviction that it is generally adopted.

True, but I think you'll find it's generally reliable.

Sorry guys.

I've looked into this extensivly - I bought the CD, did a digital comparison, a gas - spectrum analysis and even went as far as burning it to see what colour the flame turned.... The results of my experiments are in:
