What I don't get is how come my single pals who are always moaning that all the good men are taken/gay, can't bump into the blokes who moan that there aren't any decent women around. I think we're getting into physics here- they repel each other somehow!

Perhaps it's a mutual exclusion issue.
The women who claim that all the 'good men' are taken aren't really looking for a 'good man', and the men that claim there aren't any 'decent women' aren't really looking for a decent woman.
