With the Clutha Vaults doing a £3.00 for 3 courses lunch and Millenium Platter's 2 courses for £2.95, I was wondering where else in glasgow does lunch for £3 and under, and where's the best? Where has character? I don't mean a McD's or Subway type thing. I mean a proper sit down 2 courses or more lunch.
The Star Bar at Eglinton Toll does 3 courses for £2.50 (fish and chips is extra, maybe £2.80?)
Selection is something like... Starter: Orange juice or scotch broth soup Main: Macaroni Cheese, Ashet Pie, Roast beef or Fish and Chips Dessert: Rice with tinned fruit or ice cream

The Star Bar sounds good £2.50 for 3 courses must be one of the cheapest around. What's the ambience like? I can see a tour of Glasgow's cheapest lunches coming on.
Generally quiet as it's full of old age pensioners, i don't think they play music but if football is on it'll be on the telly. Decor isn't so hot but not old or distinct enough to be worthy. Toilets aren't the nicest but the staff seem decent. The food is good for £2.50!

Was there on friday, two three course dinners for a fiver.
The last time I was in there, it was £1 for a three courser I see they still have the same tables The dessert looks "new" though
They used to be in "competition", with Sammy Dows, and The Fotheringay in Nithsdale Road At one point The Fotheringay was doing it's three course for 40p, undercutting The Star Bar by 10p, who were cgharging 50p Great for the pensioners, and for Mrs GL, myself and the weans
