Ashoka at the Mill, Nitshill Road.

Their buffet is great and carryout even better. Its next to the lane that leads to Darnley Dams. Worth going for a nice long walk up to the Dams either before a visit to work up an appetite or after to walk off that blotted feeling after a great feed.

Their Teatime Specials are great value for money.

For me it's a toss up between Mother India (and Mother India's cafe) and Balbir's on Church St. IMO they're miles ahead of any other curry house I've been too. The ingrediants are so fresh, the cooking great and they've all got great atmospheres.

Anarkali on Viccy road is deifnitely a bit of a hidden gem. The lamb dishes they do are absolutely amazing. Plus it's a BYOB with no corkage! Great for a night out that side of the city.

top curry shops

I can't believe the Wee Curry Shop did not get a mention, their Chilly Garlic Chicken it second to none. The Polo Club in Maryhill is not bad too.

Mr Singh's India
Grub Magic, Prices are very fare and very friendly staff.

Pardesi chicken is highly recommended.
Lamb Vindaloo was just right on the money, Not too Spicy But not for the faint hearted either.

Lovely .....

I was never that impressed by that Ashoka. The Husina Cafe down the road does nice takeways, not sure it's somewhere to go for a sit down meal though! Mind you I can't remember if they rebuilt the sit-in bit after the arson attack. :?

Thanks - I'll have to check your recommendation out. Just shows you shouldn't necessarily judge by a flashy website ::):

Admittedly it's the only one I've been to here in Glasgow, but I've always enjoyed 'Mr India's West End Balti and Dosa House' on Hyndland Street so much that I've never felt the need to go anywhere else.

I often think about branching out, but always fall back to the old favourite in the end.

My uncle swears by the Anarkali on Victora Road... could be more to do with the staggering distance 'twixt there and home than the food though... :?:

I rolled by there at around 2am on Sunday morning, albeit a bit worse for wear, and decided to go in for some pakora to take away. It was really good. There was lots of pakora for your money, it was not at all greasy and overall rather tasty. As they have a 3am license, they were also quite happy to serve me and my mates a quick pint while we waited. Result.!
