So why was the spelling changed from Argyll Street to Argyle Street, anyway? A bit too Scottish for Glaswegians, or what?

When I was on holiday recently, I found a wee cafe which served tea in a coffee press, it was as nice a cuppa as I've had in years. I'm now on the look out for one, I've seen them on Amazon at a decent price but the carriage is prohibitive. Anyone know where I might pick one up?

I got one in Asda today for 7 quid, I bought Scottish Blend loose tea, went home and had two wonderful cups of tea. Like nothing you'll get from a teabag. I bought one for coffee too.

Seven quid? I'm going to try that. I'll see if it works with Yorkshire Blend.

I like tea so strong it turns your eyeballs yellow. It's ruined my relationship with my sister, who makes tea so weak it isn't even brown when you put milk in.

She lives in Burnside.

Mary Tedeschi's cafe in Kilbowie Road Clydebank mashed the finest tea in the whole world, BTW.

The CCA has taken to serving proper tea in proper teapots with internal strainer thingies, a real treat. And they're open into the evening, after the official teashops have shut. But not on Mondays at all, a trap I've fallen into more than once.

(The hand-cut chips are unmissable, even if not exactly not the trad cucumber sandwich and fairy cake accompaniment.)

Not quite tea (but I'm sure they'll pour you some if you ask) and not quite Glasgow but the next time you make the journey east along the M8 pop in to the Artisan coffee shop on Broughton Street. Relaxed and easy-going with a great range making every day feel like Sunday (if that's a recommendation).

Let us know how you get on.

That explains a lot. ::):

I used to drive the No. 18 bus. I'd get old biddies, you just knew they ironed their knickers, coming on at Burnside and asking for Glasgow. They knew the price was 26p and when I handed them a 9p ticket, you could see the greed in their eyes. I loved telling them their fare was up in Dalmarnock, "I esked for Glesgow" "Aye well yer in Glasgow now hen, get aff the bus or buy another ticket" 26p on top of the 9p already paid, it must've killed them. Tory bastards.
