What about tea?

Postby Field Marshall Shug » Tue May 22, 2007 7:31 pm

I went to Tchiovuna up the wee alley on Otago Street Lane, next to the 2nd hand book shop Voltaire Rousseu. It was wonderful. Great herbal tea served in a lovely setting which is a world away from Starbucks etc.

Aye, tea is the drink of the gods and that wee place has a nice atmosphere. None of the corporate feeling and you can't get a doublemoccaloccachocca in a paper cup to get your stress levels up before the work drudgery. What ever happened to appreciating a good coffee that tasted of coffee and not of strawberry cheescake or mint choc chip ice cream? :x

Chill everyone, drink tea, be relaxed and have the strawberry cheescake on a side order. :D

Are there any other places which offer tea as a speciality?

There's a specialist tea place on Burnfield Rd. They're more of an importer/distributer but there's a wee shoppe as well. It's kind of out the way;

address:
Thomsons
Burnfield Avenue, Thornliebank
Glasgow
G46 7TL
telephone:
0141-637 3808

I tried to go to the Otago Street Tchai Ovna once. It was weird. The place seemed deserted - not just devoid of customers, but staff too! I found the tea garden with all the windchimes, dream-catchers and stuff, but the only door leading inside just went into a very small empty room. I got confused and went to Mad Hatter instead.

Ah. I didn't actually go in as it seemed like that was all there was. I now realise my mistake!

Anyone else frequent the Ceylon Tea Centre in Buchanan Street above where the 'White Shop' is now, in the mid/ late 70's?

Fine teas and good food.
238 to 127. All in all a good afternoon's work

The Eastern European shop on the High Street has some Russian teas and Chinese market shops are good for tea, like the one on Cambridge Street.

Has anyone seen any of my Herbal Tea Book Group posters around town? If you do, take a pic and post it. It will be like a treasure hunt...but with no prize. Cutbacks, eh.
