Can anyone recommend any good live jazz clubs or bars in town?

There's not much to recommend

Saturday afternoons at Brel and Mickey Deans is always worth going to see.

The Glasgow Jazz festival is suffering from lack of a major sponsor.

I'd sponsor it just to remove Fiona Duncan from the late night jazz club. You could see Annie Ross and compare and contrast.

There are usually some fringe events that won't be listed in the programme.

The pub on Pollokshaws Road just past shawlands train station think its called 1901 used to be the Swan. They have a jazz session every sunday afternoon, i wasnt really a jazz man but after stumbling in one sunday i was pretty impressed. Very good afternoon.

I don't believe there is an established regular club...Brel sometinmes have bands on and the Halt used to host a semi regular Bobby Wishart gig. Blackfriars did some good work a while back but i think that's stopped.
It does seem strange in a town the size of Glasgow that there's nothin'... Edinburgh has two!

On a few occasions recenltly, there's been a good jazz band on at Bloc on Bath St. It seems to start at around 6pm on Saturdays.

It may just be coincidence as I'm not a regular there by any means, but is probably worth checking out.

Not a big jazz fan, but happened to stuble into Bloc 2 months back & I saw that band. They were really good.

Theres a jazz weekend in my wee local pub in September. It'll just be local guys playing I'd imagine. But is there any excuse needed to sample live music and some real ale in the best pub in Lanarkshire!
