This weekends bad place

Cheese Bar and Deli http://www.cheesebar.co.uk/
61 Otago Street

Stornaway black pudding with clapshot and apple sauce
Homemade fish pie with a nut crumb and served with seasonal vegetables

Mixed berry cheesecake with berry compote
Ice-cream with Butterscotch topping

Atmosphere is cosy, service is attentive, sadly its the food that lets this place down.

Clapshot was tepid, under seasoned and couldn't taste any butter or a hint of turnip. Fish Pie was good although the portion wouldve suited a kids menu!

Cheesecake was nice, berry compote was frozen berries chucked on the top (watery)
Butterscotch sauce nice, better ice cream out the Queens Park Cafe

Shan't be back

Garfunkels's, Glasgow Airport.
7 hour Globespan delay, done all the shops quite a few times. Time for tea. Sadly, not Mallorquin cuisine as planned but a chicken breast that couldn't be cut with a steak knife. Dreary.

New Cafe India

Postby ronan » Thu Jun 28, 2007 11:12 am

Cafe India on Albion St, used to be a china buffet place.

Decor - 9/10
Presentation of food - 9/10
Portions - 7/10 ( maybe due to it being the lunch menu though)
Quality of food - 9/10
Service - ABSOLUTE JOKE

It was so bad it was funny. We only stayed to see how bad it would get. And it got bad.

Maybe give it some time to bed in.

The Leven Valley, Innkeepers Fayre, Drumchapel.

Food was absolutely cack, service was cack, and they had no pepsi.

Ordered a combo as a starter and had to go and get plates ourselve.

Used to get great service there when it was a Brewers Fayre, sadly not any more, i also know its not just this one, its most of the IF's that are poor.

Best to avoid this, the food in Pet At Home across from it is probably better.

Service 0/10
Food 1/10 (it was warm)
Portions 0/10 (less than it was under BF's)

Overall 0/10 (ill not be back)

The Tickled Trout just past the end of Balmore Road. They bring you sauce on a wee tray and then take it away again!

The Hunters Chicken was meat soup.

On the plus, the Fish and Chips dish is massive.

In the summer the canopies in the garden blow off and hit people.

Had the obligatory Christmas night out the other night in Sloans in Argyll Arcade. It was really rubbish. The only concession to Christmas in the place was a cheap Christmas cracker on the table. No atmosphere, the food was at best average and we were served by a girl who I think had been imbibing before her shift. No Christmas decorations in the place at all.

Starter - Crayfish cocktail (crayfish caught in 1976 and they tasted it)
Main - Beef something (just beef soup really and the veggies were so hard you couldn't get your fork through them)
Dessert - Chocolate trifle (okay)

All this for £28.

Pretty rubbish really and a real disappointment. :( Expected better.

I just had a work's christmas lunch in Caffe Uno, it was quite crap.

starter - 2 small slices of cold bread and a huge ammount of pate, tasted fine but wtf on the ratio of bread to pate

main - fatty turkey in gravy with cold bland veggies

desert - xmas pud, while it tasted good, it was tiny, the lemon tart looked much better.

Stay tuned for the review of our christmas meal at the piping centre...

I've had that happen a few times - I just ask for more toast/oatcakes/bread. :D

Totally agree with Tobe, I had scampi in there six months back, took ages to be seen by a waitress, food took ages to get to the table and then gave me the screaming trots for days afterward.

This establishment is to be avoided at all costs.

I had my Christmas lunch in the Kelvingrove Art Galleries and Museum today. Good food, well presented and served. A bit chilly sitting in the corridor though.

Aargghhh.... My cousin and his fiance are visiting from Canada and we met up in the People's Palace for a wander and a bite to eat. They ordered some food and asked for orange juice to drink. I could have died with shame when that waitress arrived with the food and orange flavour Fruit Shoots on a tray.

Very Bad Restaurants

Postby cell » Sat Aug 16, 2008 3:21 pm

Went to the Left Bank last week and was very disappointed, I've been a few times before and always order their fish curry which is normally delicious, this time I felt I was lucky not to be poisoned, the mussels and prawns were dry and smelly, they had used a ton of courgettes to bulk it out and the dish was swimming in oil, starters were also very poor with a dip for my luke warm oily squid overdosed with ricotta cheese! The chefs must have changed or they are hitting the bevy! I'm not normally one to complain but I felt strongly enough that I should because it was disgusting, when I pointed it out to the waitress she said she would tell the chef, there was then no feed back, explanation or apology, I was just presented with the bill! needless to say I will not be back and certainly would tell people to avoid this place unless they fancy risking a dose of the runs.

I hope it was an isolated aberration - I've really enjoyed The Left Bank the couple of times I've been there and it would be a real shame if it were to have gone down the pan.

Just to say that I went back to The Left Bank the other week and found it to be as good as ever. I had my old stalwart of the burger and it was most enjoyable.
