Below is my narrow minded view on Glasgows restaurants. Many more nice places but trying to get a small view based on comments based earlier. Would encourage all to bear in mind my comments on G1. G1- worst place to eat ever in my opinion. Nice bars though........

Massimo's, Bath Street, best Italian in center (Bath St) and north (Bearsden) of town. Comfortably.

UB Chip - Competes with Bacco below for favourite restaurant. However, does not have the innocence nor the prices of Bacco so Bacco is the one.

Stefan King / G1 Group - Avoid eating at all cost. Food overpriced and shite, at all venues. Microwave / re-heat special at many. Usually nice surroundings though, if you are into that.

78 St Vincent - Good food, nothing special

Lounge / Opus / Whatever it is now - Overpriced shit for people that think they are special.

Barca Princes Square - Worst Tapas ever. So overpriced to boot.

Zinc Princes Sq - Good food, nice place.

Etain Princes Sq - Zinc for those that feel the need to pay more

Il Pavone Princes Sq - Bogstandard

Bacco, Kilmarnock Road. Best Italian in Glasgow, if you only eat the specials. Menu bog-standard but the chefs specials are amazing.

Arigo - Average, usually ok for seafood.

Ole - Poor

Urban Grill - Did not get it. Pretty shit surroundings (dark and dingy) and bog standard food.

Ivroy - Pretty decent. Nice bar and staff, almost pub food. Irritated me that people booked tables as it is basically pub grub, served nicely.

La Vita in Bishopbriggs.

Good at lunch to watch all the people pass by outside on a sunny day. Nice retro Italian feel decor with emphasis on Holywood films. Food and service was good although the vegetarian pizza is a bit sparse. The steaks are excellent. Perhaps too many seats crowded in to the venue resulting in people squeezing past you every minute and brushing against your cape and knocking over my bowler hat.

Had lunch in 1901, Pollokshaws Road in the bistro. Very nice and would thoroughly recommend it. 3 course lunch, two glasses of wine and coffee £26.

Thai fish cake, home made soup. Fish Pie, Roasted veg and brie parcel and then sticky toffee pudding. Good portions and excellent quality. Definately be back

I did worse than that. I used double my normal quota of sauce in order to damage their profits. They had live Italian news on the telly - just as I was tucking into my starter - a shot of a dead body on the ground under a sheet.

That'll teach them. And just as well you're not the squeamish type, then. And that it was the starter course rather than the steak.

Was in The Hermitage on Kirkintilloch Road for lunch today seeing as my works canteen was closed for the kids xmas party (little runts)

They do 2 for £8.95 meals, looked quite good.

I got the Plaoughmans Rustc Baguette (£4.95)

Id reccomend the place.

Used to be called Fuel but thankfully that shut down and all the neds got punted somewhere else

When living in Glasgow we would go to the Lahore indian restuarant under he Central bridge on Argyl Street. This was was ritual carried out every Friday & Saturday night before hitting the Penthouse. The food was stunning with an excellent menu and you knew you were onto a good thing when you would see people prepared to queue outside whie waiting for a table. The service impeccable.

I went there a few years back when I came back for a visit and sadly it had one downhill quite badly. I did have something to eat however the magic had gone.

Shame

Was in Spaghettis in Skirving Street, Shawlands the other night. Nice place for a quiet meal. Service was attentive without intrusive, wine was well priced and the food was lovely.
