Were you drunk or sober when you conducted your review?

All hot dogs out of a tin are crap and chips from a van whose clients are fresh out of a pub you know they're going to be crap too. The only vans worth eating out of are film catering vans on location.

painfully sober. I'd just got out of work. IIRC, i did something about it afterwards.

Chips from burger vans do tend to be crap, yeah. The hot dog was so bland though, it was awful. I just wanted something hot and relatively tasty, but even when drowned in sauce i couldn't finish it.

I'm not quite at the stage where i can afford to hire catering vans for any of my stuff :D

Have just flitted from Dennistoun to the rarified climes of Hyndland. Nestling in amongst the chichi shops on Clarence Drive, there is the Chip Chik Inn. The best goddam fish supper ever. (Barring the Castlevecchi (sp?), but that's in Paisley).

Best Chippie

The Unique in Allison Street used to be unbeatable. Remember my Granda taking me there about 25 years ago.

Last time I was there about 3 years ago it had gone downhill.

Tina's (?) in Calder Street at the end of Hollybrook Street deserves a mention though.

PS Who would have thought it.........I regitered for this forum because I am interested in the history of Glasgow and my first post is about fecking chip shops........ah well......at least I know where my priorities lie!!! :D :D

The van just off st andrews road at the cash in carry is quite excellent, only open from 8am to 2pm, but i'd recommend it.

the Unique on Alison St. was superb, it was not a chippie for pub goers as it closed early evening. Definitely a sad loss :(

seen this on american rocker jesse dayton's site, as one of his top picks

2. Bennys' Fish and Chips in Glasgow Scotland is the real deal...tons of drunk Scots line-up for this stuff after taking it deep on the town... walking up and down the streets of downtown w/ these huge newspapers full of Fish & Chips...this might be the ultimate preventative maintenance/hangover food...and "give me me Malt Vinegar ya wanker!"

is it on alexandra parade?

Yeah, that's one of my favourites. Avoid the wee curry place
around the corner. Don't ask for Korma, cause it tastes like

yeuch...was really disappointed the last time I got something from there - really greasy, almost to the point of being inedible.

Much prefer the Chip Chick Inn on Fulton St, they also do crackin' pizzas

I recommend Ralph's Tastybites on Shieldhall Road, Drumoyne. If any of you folks are ever in the area give it a try. Lunchtime pizza crunch & fritters.
Mmmm 8)
