This could be a very useful thread :) I'm fairly useless in remembering...well anything, and I've had in the last two days two lots of sleep - one of 3 hours, and one of about 11, with a presentation, drinks and noodle(s) (throwing) inbetween. Needless to say, I feel a little bit :?

I know lots of crap ones though! can we make a thread for them?

Once complete the good club guide should be produced as a handy, credit card sized addition to everyones wallet in case of emergency!!!

hmmm ale....

Postby excoriate » Thu Mar 17, 2005 8:15 pm

Nobody has mentioned The Aragon on Byers Road, new management, but still doing special ales on the blackboard.

If you're ever in Hamilton, go into The George, fantastic wee pub usually with 3 different ales on tap and a mix of 6 different bottled beers. Not bad for a pub in Hamilton.

I never hardly ever 'go out to the pub' but sometimes when I'm coming out of the Mitchell library (imagine spending your spare time reading!) I pop into the Bon Accord on North Street.

Decent wee pub. They have the days papers, books on a bookshelf and most important of all the Q magazine quizie machine!

KonstantinL I agree about the Bob Accord. It's a bit off my usual tracks but I always like it when I'm in there. Especially in the evenings it has a folksy-and-writers feel about it with some spontaneous music now and again. I don't know if it's a private shop but I find the staff also very friendly - and efficient which is of course very important on the drinks front :)

Molendinar wrote:The pub at my number one spot and has been for over a year now has to be the Ben Nevis on Argyle st in Finnieston. A wall of whisky, contemporary design with traditional materials, great music, friendly bar staff. It's all part of my slow transformation into an old man with a pipe and pint at the bar.

I love the Ben Nevis, it used to be my regular whilst i was in halls but now i've moved right out past byres road, so it's a bit of a trek, I'm still going to make a point of going there on a regular basis, the celtic band is worth it on it's own, not to mention the regulars with the cute dogs and the nice landlady.

and continuting to reasearch on good pubs prices are for a pint of Guinness.

The Lismore - Dumbarton road - £2.30
The Junkyard Dog - Great Western -2.50
The Halt's downstairs bar - £1.75 (only reason to go there really)

Gallus Dumbarton Road

Postby Dexter St. Clair » Tue Oct 18, 2005 12:22 pm

Having had not a complete pint of Budwar in Club 500, one inch of foam included. I popped over to Gallus accross the road. Very reminiscent in atmophere to a good night in Reid's. Thye've knocked it into one big bar, reatined the seating area in the original bar , lit it well and put on a good selection of beers. Service is excellent.
